Info about Breda auto wanted?
Wondering if anyone has any info about the Breda automatic? Friend from Tuscaloosa in the gun business showed me one this weekend while hunting over in the Delta. Was really impressed with the look and feel of the gun, and was told it was made by guy who left Benelli, and opened up his own store. Any info would really be appreciated.....especially comments from GulfCoast. Thanks

I am not familiar with that one at all.
1) Where was the gun made? Italy? If so, they may not have any real distribution yet in the states.
2) Did he say who the importer was?
3) Was it long/short recoil operated, or a gas gun?
I will see what I can find out, but that is a new one for me.

Ask and ye shall recieve, here is the importer: www.gryphonarms.com
It is a long recoil action gun(A5 clone) with a short rotary bolt (Benelli/Extrema) that is made in Italy. 3" chambers only, about $900. Sounds very much like a Benelli clone.
I have never heard of these guns before, but they have been around many years. My friend the honest-to-God-grew-up-hunting-over-there-Italian was not familiar with them, either. That probably does not mean much, since there is a gunmaker on every corner in Italy. Breda is a pretty big heavy weapons conglomerate. The factory is in the same general region as Beretta/Gamba/Franchi.

Be the first (and only) one on the block to have one. I wonder if by chance you happened to do something stupid - say like drop it in the water and almost lose it, how many gunsmiths would it take to disassemble it and put it back together. What is the UPS rate to Italy? I know that's pretty far-fetched - nobody every drops a gun in the water. See ya tomorrow. Hope you don't have high hopes for the weekend. Actually swatted a mosquito this afternoon.

GC....Thanks for the response and info. I have shot pumpguns all my life(long time), but for the last 2 or 3 years have been getting the itch to make the switch over to the auto. I have shouldered many an auto during this time and have never felt one that really felt good. Maybe I put too much emphasis on feel, but my theory is if it doesn't feel good right off the bat...it probably won't get any better, and you probably won't shoot it well either. Curious about your spin on this.....would it be a reasonable assumption to think the gun would be made well enough to function properly under normal use. I wish I did know more people who have had experience with them. I shot his this weekend, and watched him shoot it. He loves it. I'm sure many would say you are better to stay with the proven names....I just haven't felt any of those that feel this good. What do you think? Thanks again for your help. nj

Hey Forester.....I don't know anyone who would possibly drop their gun in the water...do You? Maybe this gun would shoot 3 times instead of just once though. You need to get rid of that old pumpgun you've got and get something you can shoot a little faster, since you're getting so old and slow. Maybe that way you could get your dog a little work before she gets too old to fetch. She looks forward to me coming over so she can get a little work.

In general, the Italian guns are very well made. Like I freely admit, I had never heard of these particular guns until this morning.
About your question regarding feel, there is a lot to be said for confidence. If it feels good to you, and you think that you will shoot it well, you probably WILL shoot it well. Or at least as well as you can. The questions that I would have would be 1) durability, and 2) if you need parts, when, where and how would you get them. Its no biggie to find a gunsmith to work on a shotgun, but it can be a PAIN to get italian gun parts, even Beretta parts (ever break a 682 firing pin????)
I have asked my Italian friends to find out whatever they can about these guns and get back to me. I would love to see one, I love to shoot new/obscure stuff.
Hey Anat: Ever see one of those $4K Cosmi autoloaders from Italy on your skeet field??? Talk about overpriced

Every limit in Florida requires a recount.
