need sugg. on behavioral problem

Postby KWAKHED » Fri Mar 18, 2005 8:25 pm

I have a 5 year old male Lab that has been inside for as long as I have had him. Well recently he has developed a bad habit of using the b-room in the house. In September, my son was born and I feel he may think he is not cared for as much and is trying to get attention any way he can. I need any help I can get.

The first thing to do is make sure their isnt a physical problem thats making him do it. When a dog suddenly does something totally out of chararther, its best to make sure it is behavior, and not physical. Lots of things like urinary tract infections and whutnot can make a dog do that. Also, is the dog doing it in front of you, or like at the door like he couldnt hold it? Is he doing it when you talk to him (submissive?). travis

He has been doing it in different places, like today it was by my bed. He has also been tipping his food bowl.

Urinating

Postby D. Walker » Tue Mar 22, 2005 7:30 am

Like Travis said something out of the ordinary could be crystals in the urine causing this - also bladder infection or urinary track infection.

Have heard of dogs doing this at times when there are new borns lack of attention as well - keep an eye on it and if continues then take the dog to the vet.
