Pumping/Relift question

Postby letmland » Fri Jan 28, 2005 10:59 pm

A friend is thinking about buying a forty acre block of hardwoods in a good location. A small portion of the block floods naturally, but the property has an adequate water source for pumping the entire 40 acres. It has been pumped up some time in the past as he found some remnants of the pumping (pipes, discharge washout,etc...).
He called me because we farm some irrigated land here in Tn., but we have pivots and furrow irrigation, and I have no experience with a relift or pumping surface water. He was wanting to know his options on the pumping and approximate cost. I could loan him a power unit or tractor, but he'd be looking at buying some type of pump. Any ideas on what he could get a used pump for, how long it would take to pump the entire block, or any other information from someone with some experience. He just wanted a little more information before going any further with the owner. Thank You.

IF THERE IS POWER CLOSE I WOULD PUT IN AN ELECTRIC PUMP I DON'T THINK THE PRICE OF DIESEL IS GOING DOWN AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO PUMP UP BUT HOPEFULLY ONCE
