What did he say? Where the heck are the ducks and why aren't they in the deep south big time with all the cold across the middle of the nation?

Okay, I know the semi unwritten rule is not to ask for detailed info. But heck I am out of the listening area and have super slow speed connection.

Enlighten me and all the others in my boat.

Throw me a crumb.

thanks,

Alright, anybody listen to this last night? Did they say anything about the overall numbers for this year? I know we have had several reasons given as to why the ducks were not here, but I wondered how numbers were in our flyway. Do they have the program transcrict available?

The reason they aren't here is because they aren't there.

I think the prarie pothole counts are legit ESTIMATES, but the rest of the counts a.k.a. ESTIMTATES, up in the Boreal Forests, etc.

They don't know where those ducks will ultimately wind up. They have a theory that they come down the MS flyway, but a lot come down the East Coast and Central Flyways.

Migration Patterns change, etc.

There needs to be extensive reseach done on migration patterns. They don't have it figured out.

On my grandfather's farm in AL we got 200+ Mallards in the Swamp right now. I've been asking around and so does everyone around that area. I haven't seen that many at one time on the cypress brake we hunt over here in 3 years.

Use to.

Not anymore.

Either that or longer seasons combined with warm weather means they are killing them to the north or us and we aren't gonna have any colder than we've had this year,

so maybe we need to re-visit season lenghts and bag limits.

Someone talk me they killed close to 1 million in N. or S Dakota this year, can't remember which one.

My 12 cents.

Just my opinion.

My brother goes to Auburn and spooked up about 150 mallards off a beaver swamp he just started hunting in that area. Seems like the ducks are getting smarter and finding other hideouts due to hunting pressure. That is close to the Chatahoochee River, don't know much about the area but, would be surprised if they usually have that many ducks in that neck of the woods.
