muzzle loader

Postby tom dawg » Tue Jan 18, 2005 8:03 pm

i know this isnt exactly a deer hunting forum, but ill give it a shot.
as you know "primitive weapon" season is approaching, ive been talking with some people about different muzzle loaders..... some say theres can shoot 200 plus yds, others say 50-100yds, some, like me, seem to think 50-75yds.

what about yalls?

Encore 2 pellets, 50 cal bullet, about six inches drop at 200 yds when sighted in for 100, I like it a lot, in fact it's not a muzzleloader it's a freakin rifle, only thing that makes it a rifle is you load it through the barrel. Daniel Boone would fall over if he saw todays inline stuff. However if you are looking to shoot a long way, the new inlines are the way to do it. I like my Encore but am still a purist, use my TC Hawken with open sights to shoot my deer, still a challenge that way.

With the right bullit and powder combination, the good ones will shoot good groups at 200 yds with plenty of killing power.

I've got a Knight Wolverine....at 100 yds, it's dead on.....I prolly wouldn't shoot at one at 200 cause I still have an AIMPOINT on it...haven't gone to a scope yet.......but with a scope, I'd probably feel comfortable reaching out to 150-200.....

at 200, the aimpoint covers the deer....i'd be in the neighborhood, but wouldn't risk that shot..
