Extrema or not!!!

Postby Delta Duck » Sun Dec 16, 2001 9:24 pm

Got on some of them birds with the greenheads this afternoon. The new 391A Extrema will be shipped back Monday. Up til this afternoon it was shooting sweet. It started hanging up. It would shoot the shell in chamber, eject and bring the 2nd shell up but would not close!! I has gotten wet, but it still should not hang up.

I will be shooting the SBE in the morning!!

Did you oil the gun first? I've owned two new Berettas and both came dry as a bone and would not function properly until oiled.

Interesting DD, did you clean the gun after you picked it up? It may be that "gunky" oil they put on it at the factory. But what I want to know is where in the WORLD did you get on those rare ducks with GREEN HEADS??(surely you don't mean drake SPOONBILLS!!! )I am planning on heading over there Tues. morning, talk to you later!

I did not oil or clean. Started shooting out of the box. The other one has shot about 75 rounds more and had no problem yet.

DD, the packing grease that they use is very thick and with any cool weather, it will jam a weapon in no time. I own two Berettas and I learned this lesson on the first one...even in the heat of summer. Once I took it all the way down and cleaned off the cosmoline and used a good lubricant, I have never had a problem. Until I did that, I had the same situation...after the shot, the shell would partially chamber and the action would hang open. I'd almost be willing to bet that if you cleaned it and lubed it...no more problems.

Absolutly a must to remove the cosmoline. That stuff is so gunky you could coat a gun in it, wrap it in a garbage bag, bury it in swamp mud, dig it up and use it 50 years later! I would recommend standing it BBL down on against a tree and spraying it REAL good with a clean de-greaser, in and out. Then just wipe it off and shoot away....

Now DD, you 'been around gun folks and had plenty o' good advice on upkeep......remember, you're supposed to douse that baby in at least a 1/2 can o' DW-40 and set it (muzzle up) in the corner of your den for a couple days.

Now, I hear SBE's require 'special' treatment(consideration) ......'just lean it against the kennel gate (you know the spot I'm talkin' 'bout) .....and give 'Phideaux' a treat evertime he 'oils' it. BWAAAAAHAHAhahahaha!!!

I will get around to douching it later. I'm back using the ole faithful, the sniper, the real deal. In other words my SBE!! You love'em or you hate'em.

I don't want a gun you have to clean before you shoot 2000 or so rounds.

RedHead
I'll see you saturday night, bring most of that $87 and we will talk.

Dixie Boy
Would you like for me to sugar coat it for you.
I do believe the reason I own the Beretta is because I like to shoot.

Please tell me why it is a waste for me to own that shotgun?
