Cypress Brake Question

I've got a big brake that has been holding some ducks, but the center of the hole is too deep to wade, and it is so thick to get in the hole it's gonna be hard to drag in a big boat. I've got a Chapman pirouge, but it seems a little too unstable to use in deep water. Also, I've got a 14 ft. jon boat but it is too big to make the drag in. Any suggestions?
I need to sell the pirouge and trade the jon boat from something smaller and lighter, but stable enough for deep water.

Go Devil, or build a small blind for next season.

I've got a chainsaw!
Get you a float tube...it works great.

A buddy suggested a River Hawk..said they are light and very stable in deeper water. Anybody want to buy a pirouge or jon boat?

A riverhawk or a gheenoe either one would be a very good choice, they aren't too heavy and hard to drag, but are VERY stable.

Check out a belly boat, or, maybe an inflatable raft (Sevylor has a few models on e-bay) without or with a trolling moter, if ya have a partner. Y'all have a nice day!

gumbo,
i highly recommend a gheenou. have had one for years. easy to transport, very stable. can get you in and out of some pretty tight places. great if you can get your hands on one.

I hunt the same kind of place regularly. Go for the float tube. I bought an inner tube from an 18-wheeler tire shop, put a 1.5" strap across the middle (in a "V") and lightly sprayed the tube with camo color paints. It's very lightweight and ducks don't pay any attention to it.

Excellent advice RD and U2E, I had forgotten about the float tube option. I have never tried it myself but have several buddies that have killed many birds using this approach. Just make sure you shoot the cripples quick, they can paddle faster than you can.
