I've heard a few rumors about the deer season being cancelled in the delta because of the flood. Anybody else heard about this?

I'm not aware of any cancelations for deer as of yet, but i do know that there is law in the Ms. statutes that prohibits the taking of game due to floods and high water... with the unusual rains we have it could be foreseen... never have i know it in Ms. but i do know of cancellations in Tn. some years back.. a good thought to ponder and i will look up the statute tommorroww...

Hey Swampland, check with the warden before you deer hunt because I got it from a pretty reliable source that Delta National as a whole (including Sunflower) may be suspended temporarily due to the flood conditions.

Judge, while you're researching the statutes, see if anything is mentioned about the county supervisors, having the authority to cancel hunting seasons, under certain extreme conditions. Seems that I remember reading that somewhere, but could be mistakened.

As of our MDWFP biologist meeting last week, this was not even discussed. I have not heard anything of the sorts.

Buddy of mine hunted there a couple of days ago. No messages posted on the check in boards.
