Resting Areas

Postby CaptnT » Tue Dec 18, 2001 5:05 pm

I can't help but giggle a little when I read about all the guys whining about no birds. Here in the North part of the state there are alot of birds, but you have to know where to look for them.

The BEST hunting I have done this year has been on public land.

Yeah, I have access to private land (at least my dog does, he is asked back for more hunts than I am!), and I have a buddy that brings me as a guest to his duck club with the rice fields with buried pits. He is crying this year because he says they have no ducks. I on the other hand have done well this year, after not shooting more than 10 birds last year in Mississippi. My secret? Find the rest areas. Everybody wants to hunt the fields, because that is where you see the birds, but give me a thick stand of cypress and gum to stand in, listen to everybody blast them out of the fields, and about 10:00 when everybody else is picking up decoys, I'm dropping birds. Don't bother asking where

Capt'n, I believe I am right along with you. Probably run in to each other and don't realize it. If you see a black extended-cab ford with toolbox and personalized tag, say hello. It'll probably be me. I myself have done far better this year. I like you, will never tell!

Yeah, its been a good year so far, and the birds aren't even here yet!

Notice I said "resting" area, and not "roosting" area.

All I'm saying is its not in Desoto County.

I'll look for you bwm, I'll be the one with the greenheads.
