I think I'm going to buy a super black eagle. I know many people that post on this site have them. What's your advise??

26" bbl. I got the 24" and its simply too close to me...really hurts your ears after just a very few shots. The 28 is just too dang long. I'd go with composite over wood if you plan on using it very much for hunting, it resists scratches and abrasions a lot better than wood and is not as shiny.

shoot one before you buy it... and email Gulfcoast, ask him about one...

and if you still buy one get you sum good oil

dukbum is right, your gonna need some really good oil. SBE's are mechanical operated and not gas so they will jam up easier, had two of my buddies with them jam up the same time and in their first season with the guns. the guns were cleaned like they should have been but while your lookin at guns go check out a beretta extrema, I think you'll like it better.

I agree with the SBE suggestions! I own a SBE composite 26" bbl. wrong-handed, I mean left-handed he, he I used to sell all of the above mentioned shotguns and the SBE had the least trouble! The shotgun that got our award for the most problems was the (drum roll please)... the Browning Gold's. I'm a Browning man, but will not own a Browning Gold. The rep. did everything he could, almost giving us each one, but could not get us to shoot them. I hope they have changed, because I sure would hate talking about them now, but haven't heard that! No shotgun manufacturer produces a line of guns guaranteed to never malfunction or break, so pick the one that fits you best and has a good track record!

Go for it! I don't know who's Benelli's everyone is always talking about jamming, but it ain't my SBE!

Truth seems to be that you could throw a blanket over all the quality guns! They are all "pretty much" reliable; but if you get a gun that has a mechanical action, it will fail you at some time. Know that, accept that, then go buy the gun that you like to look at the best, that feels the best when you mount to your shoulder, and that you just plain "want." Then let everybody tell you how wrong you were, and smile. You are right to get as much info as possible, but when it come to shotguns, opinions do vary!

Now, if you want a shotgun that does not jam and shoots everytime...get you a two-holer. I have killed triples before, but only a couple. I have never needed a third shot quicker than I could stuff a shell in my o/u. It works rain or shine, in mud and grime!

Bottom line, within your means, get the gun that pleases you.

The best shotgun I have is a Rem. 1100 that my Daddy gave me. It jams on occasion, but my Daddy gave it to me, so that was just fine. I still like to shoot it at clay targets. It will always be my favorite gun, and it has nothing to do with anything other than it is just the one I like best!

Gunner, I have had a Super 90 for years and I love it. I have heard of some horror stories about Benelli's on this page but my experience with my gun has been nothing but great. Doves, Ducks and Turkeys I cannot complain about mine. I have never shot a SBE 3.5 inch, and as long as I can get them with my Super 90 I'll just stick with it.

I've shot a SBE for the past 11 seasons and I have never had mine jam up on me. Yes, you do need to clean them regularly. Not necessarily after every hunt, but at least a couple of tuimes during the season.

I've shot 3.5" steel, Hevi-Shot, 00 buckshot, #4-6 turkey loads and #8 dove loads and everything cycled through just fine. I think the SBE has about the best balance of any gun I've ever fired.

You could certainly do worse and, IMO, you can't do much better.

yes, you can do better--save 700-800 bucks and buy a baikal mp-153 synthetic, camo-clad it for 20 bucks if you want, get a trulock or terror choke for it---and have a gun that doesn't need a recoil reducer to save your shoulder or a sure-cycle to function reliably with light loads

Gunner, I have been shooting the SBE for about 5 years now. It has never failed me. Dove, Duck, Deer, sporting clays, it has done it all. Biggest thing I can advise- take it out and shoot it. I had always shot an 870 until I got this, and at first, I couldn't hit the broad side of the barn. Get accustomed to the gun. I've read stories about using guns as boat paddles and everything else you can imagine, but I use mine as a tool to enjoy the sport with. I'm proud of my SBE and it gets cleaned EVERY trip. Take care of it and good hunting!

Gunner - I am with the other SBE owners. Mine has yet to fail me. It gets cleaned usually at the beginning of the season and the end of the season, but that isn't written in stone. My gun has been a very reliable tool, doves ducks, turkeys, targets; it will shoot them all. I have only heard of a couple of people on here that have had bad experiences with them.

yeah, it is mechanical, all guns you shoot are going to have some kind of mechanical parts in them. But there are no gas ports or chambers to clean. No O-rings to dry rot, or wear out.

New Benelli system reduces felt recoil by up to 48% over the competition, and at 7.2 lbs. it is on average 13-15% lighter.

The new sbeII is out or coming out soon. Never seen it or heard of anyone who has shot it.
I have a beretta 3.5Extrema. No complaints. Regular workhorse.
I would make sure that i got a 3.5. It's like 4wheel drive. You may rarely need it but when you do there nothing like having it.
