I am about to purchase a truck in the near future. Bout narrowed it down to a Tundra or F150. What's y'all thoughts?

2 solid choices.

I'm in/out of most all brands on a daily bases. The tundra is NEVER talked bad about. Except mileage. Most farm trucks average 12.5 (average of 10 truck). Most stay on the farm once their original owner trades up. I've seen them with 300k on the odometer. It seems like very little maintance is required. They remind me of the ole Honda 300. They aren't the prettiest but work.

The newer f150's are nice. Stay away from the 5.0. The ecoboost are good motors. The v8's have had trouble. Talking new engine trouble. Better mpg on new ford. Depending on trim/shock depends on the ride level. They ride good. Look seriously in Texas. I don't know how but they r considerably cheaper from there?

Both seem to pull good, ride good, and drive good. About the same amount of room in either. Stuff easier ergonomically in ford. Gas mileage and price. Toyota seems to be slightly higher in the pricing and slightly lower in the mpg's.

The new 6.2 motor from GM is nice. It has the numbers (hp/torque) of the eco ford with slightly better mileage in a v8. Most every GM truck I've been in has a rattle. Other than that nice trucks. Most rattles have been found/fixed under warranty.

My choice would be the 3.5l v6 with 10 speed. Of the two. If money was no object I'd get the kind ranch to boot lol. Reason? I'm on my 3rd ford now. Personally would like to get a GM my next truck. Weird but everyone who drives GM says fords? Go figure.

Have a Z71 now. It's my last GM product I ever buy. I was wondering about towing on the v6. Could it tow a smaller travel trailer. I don't have one yet but plan to get one in a couple years.

Most say the same thing about GM. I can say all 3 have somehow always got me home!

Pulled a 28' camper with my coworkers 3.5l. He bags 16.5 keeping it above 65. Does almost 19 at 65. Did extremely well. Avg 10 mph with camper and surprised me. It's a weird feeling how it pulls but pulls great. Pulling a ranger is almost like it isn't even back there. This is previous to the 10 speed tranny. I have no experience with the 2.7. I watch mpg pretty close due to not towing much (<20%) considering I put a lot of Hwy miles on them.

Ford crew has done well in crash test also. A lot better than the tundra. With the electric rear locker the off roaring capabilities are a bonus. Then again I don't mud ride but it keeps you from having to lock it in 4wd every time u pull off the blacktop.

I have a Tundra now and my next truck will be a tundra. I was a GM man before the Tundra..

I'll never own another GM if I can help it. Love my tundra. 110,000 and it still feels like new. Everything is still tight, no squeaks, plenty of room in the cab, good power. Before I went up a tire size and put 10 ply on, I was getting 17-18 (which from what I understand was above what most folks got), but now I'm down around 14-15. Whatever you end up getting, get it with power seats. I know you got them short legs....

I drive a 14 F-150 and love it, along with the 11' model I had prior. That said if I had to buy new today it would probably be a tundra. We have two of the new fords in our company fleet and I just don't like them. We have an 09' tundra pushing 300k rolling strong along with a 15' tundra with 100+k and no issues. Yota is building a solid truck, they have my vote.

If I was shopping tomorrow for a new or lightly used truck, that is the only 2 I would consider. My current ride is an 07 Tundra DC and I have no complaints. Will be 10 yrs old in August and will have about 150k miles by then. Have done almost nothing but change the oil and rotate the tires. The only 2 problems I've had were (1) the motors in the electronic door locks that went out and I replaced myself for $6 each; and (2) a stupid gov't mandated emissions sensor that went bad and Toyota replaced when I had 125,000 miles at no cost to me.

I also spend a lot of time in a 2014 Tundra Crew max that is a company vehicle and I love it as well. No problems with it at all for 65,000 miles.

My girlfriend had a 13 tundra with the smaller v8. It was a nice truck and we had no trouble out of it but the mileage was terrible. 14-15 mpg was her average. I think the towing was ok on it but every time she pulled my boat with it she said it had no power. I have had 150 in the past and have friends with them now and they all like them. Both trucks are definitely good choices. I have friends who pull their campers with 150's and 1500's so I know they are capable. I have a friend who is a dealer. He used to always drive 1500's but for the last 3 years I've only seen him in 150's.

I'm never buying another Ford or Chevy again in my life. I've always been a Toyota man and I decided I wanted to try a 1500 and a 150. Both shat the bed on me. Currently I'm driving my 97 Toyota with 240k miles on it and everything works like it should. I'll be getting a tundra soon. Gas mileage isn't a concern as my landcruiser gets 10.5 on the good days.

Everyone here is dogging Chevy..why? What problems have yall had with them? I've had several different chevy's I haven't had a 1/2 ton gas in a while so I can't talk to that, but I had an "05 diesel and loved it and now have an '08 diesel and love it.

Just wondering what problems are yall talking about with the Chevy when they "Shat" the bed!!!

Yea I've had diesels since 2009. Chevy ford and now gmc with no real trouble out of any of them.

Chevy 2002 for twelve years. Now a '14 Gmc slt. The gmc is super comfortable and has performed well. I have nothing but praise for it.

03 gmc z71:
Power steering pump issues, steering shaft issues, had to rebuild transfer case (use 4x4 half dozen times a year), radio issues. I can't remember if I had the instrument cluster problem on this one or not. Sold it with 120,000 miles and upgraded to a 2011 tundra.

09 Acadia slt2:
Power steering pump issues, ac issues, leaky sunroof drain, transmission problems, steering rack issues, heated and cooled seat issues, oil in spark plug tubes, $1,800 to replace leaky timing chain cover, replaced headlights 3 times (for which you are supposed to remove the tires in order to do so), numerous recalls, and I know I'm forgetting something. Most of this stuff happened before 100,000 miles. Traded in on a Honda Pilot.

Pretty much the same here.

2006 2WD Chevy Silverado - 10 years, 228,000 miles. Only issue was it was attracted to deer

Now a 2014 GMC SLE - Bought it in September. So far so good. Fingers crossed.
