MID-SOUTH WEATHER - RAIN

Postby webfoot » Thu Dec 13, 2001 4:31 pm

The National Weather Service has extended its Flash Flood Watch for much of the Mid-South through 6 a.m. Friday morning. A stationary front extended from northern middle Tennessee into the Mississippi delta this afternoon. A large area of rain with isolated thunderstorms continues to affect much of northern Mississippi. This area of rain will continue lift northward, affecting much of the Mid-South tonight. Radar estimates and observer reports indicate that two to four inches of rain have already fallen across the area since Wednesday. An additional one to two inches of rain is likely tonight, with higher amounts possible across northeast Mississippi to near the Tennessee River. Since the ground is completely saturated and river levels remain quite high, any additional rain will aggravate ongoing flooding.

MID-SOUTH WEATHER - RAIN

This rain wouldn't be so bad if there was some actual cold weather behind it, but it doesn't look like anything drastic at all, not even a good north wind.
