Me and my boys have been slaying the snipe all thanksgiving week. Hell I feel like a rich man wake up around 8 eat a big breakfast load the boys up on the trailer and pull em down to the snipe grounds with the tractor shoot limits watch the dog do his thing (which he will be ruined for duck hunting). GOOD TIMES

Ain't nothing like it!

And they're a mouth-fulla-joy to eat as well.

Speaking of snipe, if anybody has a spot where the woodcock are heavy, once the season kicks in, I have a German Shorthair & I will travel!

Snipe opened on the 14th, you let meat get off the table!

While snipe and woodcock look similar, they act totally different, and the woodcock is bigger. They're habitat does overlap in places, however woodcock are just as likely to be found in a moist, low sweetgum thicket as they are anywhere.

If the bird gets up 30 feet in front of you with a whirling whistle type noise, it's a woodcock.

If the bird won't let you get 30 yards from it, it's a snipe. Or at least that's how our snipe are.

I want to go over to the Delta once the season opens and hunt some public land woodcock. The Delta is, obviously, much more centered on the main flyway. If anybody sees any promising areas and wants to PM me for a hunt, I'd be glad to bring my dog and try to get us on em.

Here's a good video about snipe hunting:
