The Jakes

I saw this gif and was reminded of a story from The Jakes in which the boys get ducks to land on a frozen pond by throwing blue detergent on the ice. Have any of y'all ever tried that?

It would fool me. If you look at it close, it looks like it is open.

Its a good thing they had a flat glide slope instead of straight down in the timber.........that would have hurt.
When i was a young man of around 17 year, i had a wood duck come in hot and missed the only opening in the ice. He slid into my lap at a fast clip................we both crapped our pants! :lol:

Never seen this technique used before, but I have seen poly pipe run to the bottom of a frozen field and water run over the top of the ice. Field stays frozen, but the water on top makes it look open. Makes for some interesting retrieves though.
