I know this is not the fishing forum but I think lots of people may be interested in it that don't visit that forum. So anyway to go along with all the offshore fisheries they have killed for recreational fishing(snapper, AJ, and many others) now they are closing speckled trout season in Mississppi for three months from January to March. Absolutely ridiculous what they are doing to the fishing down here.

This was predictable. When they shut down reef fishing, every charter captain and private angler targeted inshore species. Mississippi has a liberal seatrout limit at 15 fish per angler per day. Didn't take long to deplete the fishery.
In Florida, it is 4, 5, or 6 per day based on region. Alabama allows 10. Texas allows 10. Maybe Mississippi could reduce the number to ten 15 inch trout and avoid future closures.

With all due respect to the other gulf states, Louisiana's inshore fishery is in a league of its own.
