I keep a rechargeable spotlight around the farm house for varmints and coyotes....the ones I've been using don't have a lot of range, and fail to recharge after just a few months of usage.

Any recommendations ???

We use a spotlight here almost every evening and have for years, for the very same critter patrol, dog round up, etc. I have abandoned all hope of finding a rechargeable light with any multi-year capability, been through several. All eventually got stuck on suck. I'm quite sure that one day they'll have plutonium-lithium-Mars rock-crystal rechargeable batteries that last forever, but I'll be shopping for tennis balls to put on the bottom of my Mossy Oak walker by then.

One reason that I quite looking is because a couple of years ago I picked up a "streamlight waypoint". It's not rechargeable but the 4 "C" batteries last so long, that I can't keep up how long, at least a year. It has an incredible pencil beam spotlight and two settings, low/high. I throw it in the boat as a backup to the backup, thus it has been stepped on and repeatedly abused, wet, forgotten, yet works just fine. The rest of the time it stays beside the back door for nightly use. It comes with a 12volt cigarette plug-in cord if you're out of batteries, I've never needed that and don't even know where that doohickey is right now.

I recently saw this version as rechargeable, but the regular version works so well I'll let someone else be the guinea pig on that deal.

I am biased as I work for Milwaukee, but, this light is awesome. 750 lumens and the beam goes WAY out there. The fact that the battery and light are separate are a big plus. Plus, throw an extra battery in your bag and your right back going if you run it down. But with the XC6.0 extended capacity battery i have never run out of battery.

second for the streamlight waypoint. I have the exact same thing to say about it. Great light to have around. I keep mine in the toolbox of my truck.

And you recommend the XC 6.0 back-up?
And is a charger included?

Not according to the Home Depot website.....everything is a la carte.

I don't think it comes with a battery, or at least mine didn't. But I bought it through an intercompany site. There isn't really going to be that much noticeable difference between the xc4 and 6. And it's just a plus that the bigger battery acts as a base to stand the light up on.

Go to wal mart auto section get the Stanley led with lithium batteries. Keep it charged it will last. Get the 50 dollar one as they have several models. Thank me later.
