We have been developing this product for some time. It is not available yet in the US (1st of the year if everything goes well with the FDA). It will be in Europe in a few weeks. What this thing does is measure your intra and extra cellular fluid as well as total body water very accurately using Bio Impedance Spectroscopy. Water makes up about 60-70% of your body mass. The technology is currently used with cancer patients and in research settings. From those measurements we can determine body composition etc... but we are studying it for use with congestive heart failure, kidney failure, COPD etc... Essentially any condition where edema may occur there is a potential application. What is really cool is it will take information from health related App's and Bluetooth enabled devices, aggregate it and then share that information via EMR or secure cloud with your doctor, coach etc... The clinician, coach etc.. can interact with the player / patient via the camera in the device. One of the things I am most excited about is the ability to measure hydration in our young athletes. There will be various models available which will be reasonably priced (about the cost of a high end cell phone)
We just released this video which begins to introduce the technology. There will be a series of others as we receive approval for other indications etc... Anyway, it's fascinating to have played a small part in the development of something that started as a concept and now is about to go into production. Let me know what you think of the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uMBA2I ... e=youtu.be

That's really cool. I bet with a low price point, a lot of these crossfit and HIT gyms could use this as I would bet a lot of the people not 100% in tune with those programs would be surprised at how under hydrated they are on a daily basis.

I appreciate the input. That's sort of what we are hoping for. A semi comparable device is $15k we are going to be a fraction of that. Once in the US I am going to go after some of these corporate wellness programs. What this thing will do is eliminate the BS. It'll know if you are off your diet or drinking a 12 pack a day to a certain degree. Some of these wellness programs provide Fitbit's etc... to their employees as a way to monitor exercise. I was talking to a lady who runs one the other day and she told me they caught someone putting it on their dog. They figured no one was doing 40-50k steps a day, every day. But, the real value is in the chronic disease management piece. The video doesn't really get into that. That'll be a ways out but that's where you start taking serious money out of the healthcare system. It's much cheaper to manage these patients in their home as opposed to the hospital.
