Ducks or BS?

Postby duckhuntalot » Thu Dec 13, 2001 8:09 am

Talked with a Conservation Officer yesterday evening.

He said the Feds were flying and found 80-100K ducks holding on some of thte refuges in lower Missouri. Said it is probable with this band of cold air easing our way that the MS Delta and River valley will see these ducks this weekend.

Some body go pull the stopper and let some of the water out!

I have laso heard the that and they are wearing them out. It is probly true the ducks should be holding along the Mason-Dixie line with all the cold they have had farther up north, should have pushed them that far south in the last couple of weeks. I agree PULL THE PLUG!!!!!!!!!!!Good Luck this year.

That sounds good, but that is not alot of ducks. There should be alot more close. With the amount of water in Ark, and the Delta they will scatter.
Cold front!! Please!!

Long range forecast for next weekend is Low's in the 20's and highs in the 40's. This was for 12/21 and 12/22 per Accuweather.

I guess you know the significance of those dates David.

That count was a bit low.....several of the MO WMA's up here have ducks on them, and KS is covered up. ON area about 2 hrs north of the NW ARK line and 1.5 hrs SE of Kansas City is holding about 100K ducks and at least that many geese. they all have websites that tell the counts updated every few days....MO kicks out butt (Miss) on WMA hunting areas for ducks...

I just got an e-mail with the survey data for Missouri flown 12/10/2001

The counted a total of 595,800 mallards in the state with most of them in NW and N. Central parts of the state. A little over 100,000 were counted in the southeastern portion.

I looked at the Weather Channel's web page & it's showing similar weather to what we're having here now for MS for the 21st & 22nd. I hope I'm wrong & you're right! But where are you getting those reports? Cause if that's the case, the boss is gonna miss me toward the end of next week!
