i have some property in n. ms. i have heard of different programs for obtaining pipes. I have contacted the local nrcs office and they advised that there are no more pipes available that they can subsidize. They advised that there county only receives approximately 12k in allotments. i need two pipes with riser boards quickly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If that's the case you're probably going to have to purchase them. You may can get some free pipe from other sources but that will entail you're tying reforestation into the equation with an agreement to maintain for about 25-40 years. Given the size, location and agricultural issues inherent to your property, that is highly inadvisable. Steel is high so it won't be cheap, but it'll be tax deductible expense that you'll be glad you made come November, when the greenheads are raining fom the sky into your decoys! Shoot me an email or call for more info.

I got some last year through Delta Wildlife in Stoneville, Ms. You have to apply and agree to hold water Dec.- Mar.1 For the next 10 years.
I think the guy I talked with was Gayden Pollen. Real nice outdoorsy guy. Not a duck hunter but big on turkey. I might can find his # if you can't find with directory assisst.

One can obtain free pipes and water control structures through Mississippi Partners. The MS Dept. of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, DU, Delta Wildlife, Mississippi Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the USFWS are all partners within this program. Anyone of them can help. The pipes are free as long as the landowner agrees to impound water during the fall and winter months for a 10 year period. It would be difficult to get a pipe immediately but may be possible before hunting season.
I think the program Ramsey is speaking of is the USFWS Partners program where reforestation is generally tied to the project. MS Partners does not require any reforestation.
Feel free to contact any of the above agencies for more information.
Best regards,
