I'm pretty sure it has to go below 41' here in Vicksburg before it reopens around here.

Well i am on the helena gauge for Coahoma and 41 is cut off. So question is once it gets back to 41. Is deer season back on or does it have to drop below 41?

as DanP said for your club it has to get back to 39. It is suppose to crest on the 11th at 49 ft on the Helena gauge. I am hoping we can start hunting the 18th or so. May just be wishful thinking though.

So the deer have time to return to their home turf. However, those stages need to be lowered by a couple of feet south of town. Most of the deer on our place are out by 41 and start retuning about 39. If people would do the right thing, we wouldn't need those regs. A few years ago, we had a flood during deer season, and I stopped to talk to a guy sitting on the end of our camp rd just before the highway and he had killed 9 bucks in the last week. Said his buddy had just started hunting and killed 5 or 6. His buddy was shooting a 22 mag and shot 4 times while we were talking. He also said he shot several out in the water they couldn't find. He had the racks off the deer in the back of truck and every one of them were two year olds. He did say he had one at the taxidermist. It's idiots like him that screw it up for everyone. On top of that, he was shooting down the rd toward our trucks and while we were boating up to our trucks.

That maybe the case in that flat land and the deer will follow the water back home but a lot will stay in the hills just because of the food supply for a lot longer. Some moved to the hills but more prob just moved to higher ground in the flat land. We were shut down in vburg ( not camps but small private land mostly and from camera point of view not much increase that I have seen.. but oh well I was just glad I had places that were still open.. its keeps up like its been and it will be a first for me .. aint put anything in the freezer yet.. have passed a bunch one I regret now but he will be bigger next yr.. still got couple weekends to put a slick in the freezer at other spots (don't shoot them at place that's closed)... But as per the outlaws its don't matter ifn its high water or not ..outlaws gona outlaw aint no regs gona stop that...I am bout ready to start fishing anyways
