Ask DS -- Tire size change with BF Goodrich TA KO
I have a 2014 GMC Z71 that has factory P265/65/18 tires that are ready to be replaced soon. I have put the front end level kit on the truck but no lift. can I bump up to 275/65/18 without any problems of fender clearance? Thanks

You are going to be happy with those tires. I put them on my 2013 z71 a month ago and love them.Caveman wrote:I have a 2014 GMC Z71 that has factory P265/65/18 tires that are ready to be replaced soon. I recently saw a guy running 285/65/18 and he said he has no clearance problems but hasn't been running them very long. I asked a tire shop about them and they thought they may rub some suspension parts if put in a bind. What say Ya'll?

Okay the big misconception with tires is the 285 part is the height. 285 is the width in millimeters. 65 is the ratio of width the side wall is, and obviously the last number is the rim size. The 275/65/18 is a 32.1" tire (BFG's run notoriously small and is probably about a 31.7-31.9" tire.) The 285/65/18 is a 32.6" tire (see more width means more height). Generally a 305/65/18 would be a 12.5" WIDE tire. The 275 is 10.5" i want to say and the 285's are about 11.2-11.5.Caveman wrote:I recently saw a guy running 285/65/18 and he said he has no clearance problems but hasn't been running them very long. Every tire brand runs differently Nitto and Toyo run bigger than normal, while BFG runs a bit smaller. Cooper is usually pretty true to size.
Long story shot, with a leveling kit, yes you can fit those and will have no rubbing problems on uppers

I run those exact tires on a 07 f150 with no lift/level and no rubbing.

I ran this size on my 2007 GMC with a leveling kit with no problems. I was very pleased with those tires. Got 70k miles on them before selling the truck.

I have an 09 z71 and run 285/75/17 with a leveling kit and no lift.. Zero rubbing whatsoever. I think you should be fine with the 65's.
