The news really isn't reporting many details on this one, there's has to be more to it?

I'm hoping the lack of coverage is due it being more or a firecracker and less of a bomb. Not saying I know that was the case, just hoping.

the detonation video of the book bag was pretty weak. I couldn't tell any type of explosive was in there other than the bomb squads detonation charge.

I was told it was black powder in a bottle....about what you would expect from a 13 year old trying to make bomb. I say that not detracting from the seriousness of the event, it was only that "small of a abomb" because he didn't know how to make it bigger and better, not because we wanted to make a little bomb. Crazy Crazy Crazy kids that need the everlivign $#!+ slapped out of them. My main question is, what the hell were the parents doing, how many of you at 13 or you with kids about that age could get away with building a bomb and your parents not know? He also had a knife as well as another kid had a knife.
I want to know who these kids were.. as I am from Vicksburg and want to know who these "@#$%#" are and who their parents are

GPS4 is right. Got out of town before the bomb squad moved in. [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND TIGHTLY-CLOSED EYES]
Word is couple white boys tired of being bullied.

At that age we didn't even have cable yet, much less the internet. Living on 12 acres out in the boonies. Between grandpa's 2 workshops and all my dad's hunting gear I had everything I needed to make a small pipe bomb with relative ease. Amongst all our m80s and other firework paraphernalia laying around and the neighboring farmer's constant beaver control in the woods behind the house, my parents never would have been the wiser had we set off a couple homemade explosives. We did enough stupid stuff without the aid of the internet. I can't imagine what we would've done with it!

i don't think its too far fetched to say that it is easier for kids to screw up bad nowadays. Maybe it's time parents collectively understand that we need to step up our game. I pray I'm up to the challenge.

Well from what I understand on the issue as per the device its was primitive for sure But no matter how primitive if it had gone off next to a kid it coulda hurt the kid .. May not have done much property damage but damage non the same. As for the kids I don't know them but do know of one of them family... bat $#!+ crazy

I don't know either of the kids nor their family, but I heard (you kow how that goes) that one of the boys was involved in a bomb threat last year or something and they found "several" more of his "bombs" at his house when they searched it last night??

I had a serious talk with my 10 year old the other night. He is not allowed to make any sort of bomb/weapon, unless:
1. I get to help make it
2. I get to blow it up first
He knows that all he has to do is ask me if we can go blow some stuff up. Tannerite is cheap, easy, and readily available.
