Asian Carp/MS River Fisheries Mtg

Delta Wildlife will be hosting a fisheries meeting at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 13 in the Capps Building at the Delta Research & Experiment Station in Stoneville, MS. Delta Wildlife members, area fishermen, boaters, lakefront home owners, and conservationists interested in learning more about the current state of native fisheries in the Delta, the effects of extreme river stages and Asian carp are encouraged to attend.

Presentations will be made by renowned fisheries biologists from Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, Mississippi State University, Missouri Department of Conservation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Topics will include Mississippi River and associated oxbow lake fisheries, interior Delta oxbow lakes, effects of Asian Carp on native fisheries, and Asian Carp management efforts. The meeting will conclude with a Q & A Session.

The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. and conclude at approximately 2:00 p.m. A special lunch featuring Asian Carp and Mississippi farm raised catfish will be served. Only had it once, and it was leftover cold. Tasted like greasy pork chop. The fish for Friday are being caught in Ferguson tomorrow. Meeting Ryan at Ciceros Thursday night to try out some recipes, should be interesting!!
