Direct TV at camp

For those of you that have Direct TV at camp and have it set up thru the same account at your house, are you receiving local channels? We have DTV at camp and the receiver is tied to one of the guy's accounts from his home and we just quit getting local channels this summer (we got them last hunting season). He called DTV and they said his home was probably too far from camp to receive local channels. This doesn't make sense to me, especially since we got locals last hunting season. Any thoughts?

is there any tree limb coverage above or near dish? we lost ours' and someone in the business happened to be with the neighbor when he stopped by. said the foliage had grown, blocking the local reception area of dish since the local channels are coming from a slightly different direction than satellite signal (more from the side than straight on). he (effectively and efficiently) used a 20 gauge to trim the limbs and they popped back up.

I'm dealing with this now. I lost all my local channels at home. The dish got moved ever so slightly and doesn't pick them up now. If you look at the transponders on the system setup, you will have some really low or at 0. Different transponders pick up different channels. I have to rest mine today to try to get them back

mine would not pick up sec network for a game and I hit reset and it had it the next time. I use a box from home and a camper satellite that finds the signal itself.

That was awesome! I haven't laughed that hard since then.
The cool thing was the app he that actually showed the limbs in the way of a clear signal.

But, yea, to the OP, it's probably just a tweak of the dish needed. You need to be hitting 3 satellites (101, 110 & 119). One of them is for local channels, I just don’t know which one.
If you run through your signal strength query, I think you find a weak or no signal on one of those 3.
I don't think distance from his home has anything to do with yall’s issue. I’m no GH22, but this is my opinion through experience.

Here is the best one I have found.. you can see where satellite is in sky and if any obstructions affect signal...it got ours up and going at camp...we had to move ours about 20 feet to get clear line of sight..
