My wife has a cousin that raises a few cows every year. Well we buy half a cow from him and he takes it to the slaughter house and we pick it up. Always been good quality meat at a great price. Well a few years ago the guy he had been using retired. He found another guy who did a good job but last year he retired and sold his business. He used the guy that took over and it was a horrible experience. We agreed on a date and time to pick it up and my brother in law went to pick up theirs, ours, and my mother in laws. When he got there(almost 2 hour drive) they did not have it ready. So he had to sit there all day and wait and try and entertain his 3 year old daughter. the half I bought was supposed to have 5 roast but I only got one and a ton of "round" steak because the young guy doing it did not know how to cut roast. Also it seems that they just cut the meat off the bone and ran it through the grinder as the hamburger meat is full of grissel and veins. On top of that the price went up because they vacuum seal the meat. Well the hamburger meat came in tubes like a deer processor and on the steaks and roast half of them were not vaccumed properly and had air in them. So we are trying to find some one in the Hammond/Amite area that we could use this year. Anybody have any leads?

http://www.cutrers.com/

We used these guys last year for a pig we had. Did a great job along with awesome service, a little North of Hammond but may be worth the drive.

Andy, I second Cutrers. I have bought their steaks from the Baton Rouge Farmers Market.
