Remington 1100 Info
Remington 1100 Info
I have a friend wanting to sell me his Remington 1100 12ga. With 30in barrel with permanent full choke. Seems to be in what I would call good condition. I am not sure what year it was made. What is the value of this gun, and how good of a duck hunting gun is this?

Re: Remington 1100 Info
Depending on condition $300-450. Full choke will hurt it. 2 3/4 gun so it will limit you duck hunting

He doesn't say it's 2 3/4".bulldog ducker wrote:Depending on condition $300-450. Full choke will hurt it. 2 3/4 gun so it will limit you duck hunting
I have that exact gun. Mine is a 3" with the same 30" barrel and it came with a fixed full choke. I sent the barrel to Briley to put in threads for interchangeable chokes. I got it for a song, so the $200 or so for the threading and choke tubes made sense. I like it, but it's just a backup gun now. It's a great gun, but you want to duck hunt with it, I wouldn't pay more than $300-$350 b/c you'll need to change the choke tube set up to shoot steel.

Thanks guys. It is a 2 3/4. He wants $325 for it. So seems like he has a reasonable price on it.
Re: Remington 1100 Info
It is reasonable IF it's a gun you are really wanting. A 2 3/4" gun with a 30" barrel would be a great trap gun (if you get new chokes for it), but not a good duck gun. Yes you can shoot 2 3/4" loads for ducks, but you are really limited by that fact plus you can't shoot steel thru a full choke (unless you want to ruin the barrel). So you're going to have to get new chokes put in, which will jump that price up in the overall investment.
If I were you, I would just buy a new 3" 11-87, Franchi, or other decent semi's in the $600-$700 range.
