First timer here. Trained my Boykin all by myself with hopes to run him in some tests. Work and other things got in the way, but he's always hunted and become a great meat dog (in addition to buddy). He's made me look really good on numerous occasions
With dove season around the corner, I've gotten the itch to try to run him again. I know he can do everything needed for a started title, especially after a little clean up work just to knock some rust off.
Thoughts? Or am I just wasting my time and should be content with having fine retriever and friend
Is 3yo too old to go for a Started?
Re: Is 3yo too old to go for a Started?
Nope. If it's fun for you and the pooch, do it. You'll get to be around some great folks, get in some tune up before season, have a good excuse to be outdoors with your dog. Win win.

I didn't start running test with my first dog until he was 3-4yo.

My dog was a meat dog for 3 years before I ran a test with him. He got his HRCH.
