I think they have interviewed Manny Diaz, Ed Orgeron, and the head coach from UAB.

Diaz left us once ........... he'll do it again.
Re: Defensive Coordinator at MSU?
Everyone will leave given the right opportunity. I wouldn't hold that against him in evaluating him for the position. Nobody looks at this job as the pinnacle of their career, at least not anybody you would want for the job.Greenhead22 wrote:Diaz left us once ........... he'll do it again.

We don't want him back! He $#!+ on us once, don't give him a second chance!

And there's that whole he's garbage thing tooGreenhead22 wrote:Diaz left us once ........... he'll do it again.
Re: Defensive Coordinator at MSU?
That would be a good reason not to hire him. Think about it. Every guy who is a potential candidate is, by definition, willing to "leave" the school he's at unless you're hiring somebody who's not currently coaching football.davidees wrote:And there's that whole he's garbage thing too

The coaching profession is like a revolving door....sometimes the door slams in your face, and sometimes you get your foot in the door....I don't blame any coach who moves on, trying to better himself to provide for his family.
Personally, I'd really like to see Diaz return to our Ms State program....he's got a genius defensive mind, and is a heckuva motivator....he has a successful DC track record at each football program...however, he struggled at Texas, but had very little defensive talent to work with there, and, Brown sorta threw him under the bus, after that tough game against BYU....I doubt he'd even taken the job, if he had known Mac Brown was going to be forced to retire....on the other hand, he may have thought he had an outside shot at the HC position at Texas, after Brown retired....nobody knows for sure about that situation.
He turned around the MS State defense in his first year, and I say let's give him another chance, if Mullen is so inclined to offer him the job....I think his talent as a motivator and his defensive knowledge would be a real asset at MS State....jmho.

It's Diaz. Very solid hire. I am happy for him and State. I know some people that lived near him in Starkville and they think the world of the guy.

Just saw that on da Tweeter. I think it's a solid hire. Anxious to see what he can do for us again. Hopefully his very first drill of his first practice back is form tackling...Deltamud77 wrote:It's Diaz. Very solid hire. I am happy for him and State. Re: Defensive Coordinator at MSU?
Not crazy about the hire. The guy will leave as soon as he gets the chance. We don't need to be looking for a D coordinator again this time next year. Can he recruit? We don't really know because he has never stayed at a school long enough to do much recruiting. He has always coached players recruited by someone else. Think we could have done better.
