Canadian money order?

Postby Chuckle12 » Mon Oct 27, 2014 2:35 pm

Anyone know where I can get a money order in Canadian dollars? Apparently the banks don't do it. Got a speeding ticket in Canada and don't want to give them the 10% extra by paying US$.

the difference in a US dollar and a canadian dollar is about 10%. they will get the 10% either way.

Send the check in US dollars for the exchange rate amount.
Right now that is $1US = $1.12CA.

Not if I get a Canadian money order by paying US at the current exchange rate.

And FYI - don't get caught speeding in Manitoba, mine was $572. Socialism is apparently very expensive.

What are the repercussions for not paying a speeding ticket issued in a foreign country?
USPS? Western Union?
And I guess there isn't an option to pay online?

Not sure what that has to do with socialism or why you deem Canada as 'socialist'. Aside from a national healthcare system (which the USA now has), Canada is significantly more business friendly than anywhere in the USA. It is deemed to be the most business friendly tax system in the G-7. Their tax system in general is much better than the USA. Reduced capital gains taxes, no double taxation on dividends, and significantly lower corporate tax rates the the USA. Canada has one of the best economies in the world currently.

You forgot "5 times normal speeding ticket fines"... If that's the case what else is that ratio applied to? Plus, access to firearms is extremely limited...and its colder than a well diggers nurtz three quarters of the year. I'm not moving there anytime soon.

It's not difficult to buy a gun there at all. You need to get a firearms acquisition license, which is waaaay easier than getting a carry permit down here. Then you just show this when purchasing a gun. You can't readily buy assault rifles or handguns there without additional "restricted firearms" denotation on your gun license. And you can't use them for anything other than on a range. But Canada in it's entire existence has always restricted ownership of handguns to competitive shooting and law enforcement.

I don't follow, but if you say so. I'm a US citizen born in Canada. I chose to live here, I'm just saying that people love saying Canada is socialist, but compared to the USA today, it's less socialist than America.
