Very random post, but I ran across this video and thought I'd share. Any guy that lived in or around the Delta in the 70s and 80s or before will appreciate this I believe.

That's a pretty cool video. My dad grew up in the Delta with a guy whose family did that and I think he still does it. Remember going over there when I was real little and seeing the planes but never knew what they were for. Cool to see how they did it back then. Found it pretty funny with the guy talking about how sick he got a few weeks before messing with those chemicals while he's filling up with no gloves, mask, etc.

No helmet (not that it would matter), no canopy, no gloves or masks when handling the chemicals...but he flew it like a boss. It looks like crop dusting in a willys jeep. No gps to mark your coverage...just a dude running around barefoot holding a beat up table umbrella that probably came from the Greenwood Country Club.
If you look at the comments, it appears that the video was shot in or around 1970-72. That is pretty incredible when you think about it. The video is quite clear.

Awesome video!! .... yea ole boy is as calm and collected as ever. Ha then he had been filling tanks with pesticide with no gloves and there towards the end his dog is just a nawin away at his hands and fingers.

That was awesome! Thanks for posting!
The guy with the umbrella was my favorite. "Sometimes he moves to the side." Sometimes?!?

The folks in the comments are trying to figure that out as well. Apparently, this took place north of Greenwood. I'd love to know who the guy is and if he is still around though.

I'd be awesome for someone to create a comprehensive documentary on Ag Flying in the MS Delta from the beginning until now. There are a lot of characters to be chronicled (Bugga Bottom for one) and the history of the Delta could be told from the perspective of these pilots.
