Ask DS: Getaway with the wife

I am wanting to get out of town with the wife the week after the 4th. Any ideas or cool places you guys have been within about 6hrs drive of Jackson. She loves the beach but I am having trouble finding a place on this short notice that isnt about $300/night and I just don't want to spend that kind of money right now. Any suggestions you have let me know.

We go to perdido fl a lot. You should be able to find a condo like 1 bed room for like 150 a night on vrbo or southern vacation rentals.

There are a few deals on Groupon at the moment (New Orleans, Birmingham and Orlando).
I am interested in purchasing duck calls that were made by Mike McLemore. I am a family member and they have a sentimental value.

Check airbnb also, at least in Europe it is cheaper than vrbo/home away(same company).

Check the state park at Greyton Beach Florida. We stayed there last October and room rate was $110 per night, beaches were great and could ride bikes to bars and restaurants. Closer to Jackson, try the Bay Town Inn in Bay Bay St Lous.

Google "Laura's Vacation Rentals" and see if she can help. Laura has lots of condos in Orange Beach/Gulfshores. Or, there is always New Orleans.

This is the week they jack the prices @ the beach.
Hard to find something under $300 (that you'd wanna stay in anyway if you tryin to romance.

Go to fairhope and stay at the hampton. Spend your money on food...lots of good eats down there.
