Shotgun Shell You Shoot Most Often:
Shotgun Shell You Shoot Most Often:
Post up the shells you like best: company, sizes, prices, etc. Trying to get a good grasp on what we are going to shoot this upcoming season. Well pleased with the shells we have been shooting and the price, but not sure they are going to be available.
Are we gonna get wet?

Rios 1 3/8 oz 5 shot 3"
Rios 1 3/8 oz 4 shot 3"
Rios 1 1/4 oz 4 shot 3"
Rios 1 1/4 oz 2 shot 3"
Rios 1 3/8 oz 3 shot 3.5"
These are what we have shot the last 3 seasons with the top one being the shell we have shot most and the bottom on being the fewest we have shot. 90% hunting in woods, sloughs, and brakes. Most of the 3.5 inch shells were shot in fields. Very satisfied with the top 4 on this list as far as the brake hunting, but not as pleased with any on the list as far as shooting success in the fields. This could have alot to do with the shooter too
All of the above shells ranged in price from $11 - $15 per box.

Field
3 1/2" -1 3/8 #2 Federal Blue Box (Cheap, dirty, and have never had a problem)
Timber
3" -1 3/8 #4 Kent
3" - 1 3/8 #3 Kent
3" - 1 1/4 #4 Kent
Never had a problem with Kent either.
Usually shoot the cheapest thing I can find. Doesn't matter what brand or what new thing is out. Reason I use 3 1/2 in field is that we kill geese also.

Black Cloud 3" #2s. Have been deadly for us the last four seasons. No other shell we have tried does as good except hevishot and it's a little pricy.

I shoot whatever is on sale. I'm not loyal to any particular brand. I have found that all of them tend to pattern like a do-nut at times.

You've got enough dog. Why you shooting that crap ?champcaller wrote:Hevimetal 3.5 #2s they're around 20$ a box I think.

I shoot the blue box Fed 3" and 3.5" #3's. Late last season I switched to the Fiocchi Golden Goose #1's because we had several high wind days in the pit. They're bad to the bone.
