come or stay home

Myself and a couple of my friends are planning a trip to Greenwood Miss. this weekend. The thing is, are their any ducks in the area (mathews break, scatters, etc). We have traveled to Greenwood several times in the past years and have had very good luck. But from reading all of the reports posted on the different boards I am having a problem about coming or not and then maybe planning our trip later on in the year (Jan) when the weather coporates a little better. I wish I could jump in my truck every day and scout the areas that we hunt but when you live in Ga. its kinda hard to do. You have to rely on your fellow duck hunters who live in the flyways where the ducks are or are supposed to be.... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

BJ

I would put off the trip until January, on Sat. before the front we killed 8 and after the front on Sun. killed 17,(private land between Hwy 49 and the scatters) it is getting a little bit better but, if you had to make a decision I believe you will do better waiting and coming after a big front in Jan.

However, ya never know until you go!
I know I'm going!

Well, 2 ways to look at it. If you are only making one trip, then coming this weekend may yield a more pleasurable hunt in that there will probably be less hunters because of the weather, so the birds you do see will respond and the quality of the hunt may be better, unless of course your priority is numbers of birds only, then waiting may be better. I know that sounds a bit judgemental, and I'm not trying to be, but just being honest. Its up to you. I do think you will see some birds though, but not like last year at this time.
