Anybody else see this? What kind of idiot would do that. Every time we get things simmered down in this state, some dumbasss wanna-be redneck college kid does something on Ole Miss's campus to get the race flamers back down here. Unbelievable. Now people are calling to rename Confederate Ave. If these morons would quit doing chit like this everyone would just leave us alone. Ole Miss is bringing all this on itself with stuff like this being done by students.

Two steps forward, one step back ought to be the official state motto.

I agree. Stupid on behalf of whoever did it, but also those acting like it directly affected them are getting next to me. They are calling for it to be a hate crime. One in which no damage was done to the statue or any one person. What about all the black on white crime and no hate crime allegations were ever brought up? I have also heard a lot of talk from people at Ole Miss speculating it was related to MS State. Are you serious Clark? Their reasoning.....they wore camouflage pants.

I feel dumber for having read those comments. Buncha idiots on there. They may never find out who did it but blaming it on MSU is only making the whole thing worse and adding fuel to the fire they claim we should have put out by now.

How does anyone know it was an Ole Miss student? Pure conjecture.
By the way, I heard James Meredith speak down here last week. Very nice man.

Aside from the mind numbing content of the comment section they have some real potty mouths speaking on behalf of OM. Not classy.

I'm going to say it's got nothing to do with either Ole Miss or State. If they ever find out who did it I bet they are either trailer park trash or some extreme group looking for attention. I have nothing to base any of this on other than just a gut feeling and I may be completely wrong.

Could just as easily have been some Democrat trying to stir up trouble.

I'm going to start by saying that in no way do I condone or agree with what was done. However, I don't see how it warrants the FBI being involved or a $25k reward for the arrest. And how is it a hate crime? No property was damaged. It wasn't done to someone. I agree the act was in very poor taste and was trashy but come on. I think it's getting blown out of proportion. It's an inanimate object that is in the same condition it was last week. No one was affected by the stunt, stupid as it may have been.

THIS!!!!!
There is no victim. It is an object not a person. People get murdered and there is no reward for the killer, and somebody gets there feelings hurt and there is a $25K reward. There are some misguided people in the world who have absolutely lost the ability to think reasonably and logically.

The rebuttal I hear is "what is the charge if someone burns a cross in someone's front yard?" Wonder if there was any of this brought about by the recent request by the California bar or some court that we need to remove our confederate flag from the state flag and someone thought this may speed up the process. Either way, its a black eye for the state and the University.

from where i'm sitting, seems like the best thing to do would have been to just remove it and throw it in the garbage. act like it never happened and had no effect on anyone. obviously, the folks that did it, whoever they were, were trying to make a draw attention, make a statement and stir up an unpleasant issue. just like mama says, the best way to get back at them is to just ignore them. but instead, the vandals have succeeded in their efforts, because their motive was clearly to get folks riled up. Had it been treated like the non-issue that it is, then the "vandals'" actions would have been all for naught. .......but i guess that's today's society, making drama over everything.
the only "victims" in this situation are those that want to be victims.....
