A guy that I know is looking is looking to buy a piece of property in the MS Delta. He is very cautious about buying the ground because it is enrolled in WPR -- sll of it. I have been hearing some not so good stories about habitat management in some of the older (10-15 and older) tracts of WRP. Is there anywhere I can point him to read up on the stipulations and regulation regarding habitat manipulation of WRP tracts?

I have no idea how long it has been enrolled, how many acres, or where it is located other than in the south Delta.

From what I understand, he'll really need to see the contract on that piece of land as it may have some stipulations that make it a bad deal, or a good deal.

Rob, have your buddy get the landowner to call the NRCS office that the contract is in and give him permission to get the details of the contract and have him go to that office and let the District or Soil Conservationist explain it to him. They're not supposed to tell him anything about the contract unless the current contract holder gives permission to do so.

"Compatible Use Agreements" are one of the things that Teul is talking about that changes from property to property. Things like Trails, Grazing, Maintenance of Private Drainage, Pest Management, Timber Harvest, Food Plots, Carbon Sequestration Activities, Installation/Maintenance of Acceptable Structures, etc are listed as CUA's and site specific.

Best advice was from Arduckslayer, like he knows what he is talking about or something

What county? just curious.
I dealt with it from 93-2006. Older contracts had a lot of squirrelly deals written in back in the day. Newer ones (98 to present) are more consistent in the contract verbage. Your local DC or Soil Con. can explain it to you.

It could be jacked up but i can promise you if we designed it, it was all about hunting a duck! I didn't give a rats ass about deer habitat!!!

Just curious? Do you actually know of a single fine that has been levied on a WRP tract for a contract violation anywhere?
Now CRP contract violations...............they have and can get expensive at times.............................
