HUNTING THE EVENING?

Postby HARLEY » Mon Dec 10, 2001 7:43 pm

Joined a new club this year, got the same old story from the regulars "killed the heck out of'em last year should have been here." So far cant really judge bcause we havent had any weather, but club rules say its ok to hunt the evenings. We have had a sufficient number of ducks on property all season, just cant get very many to work due to all the pressure IMO. Anybody got any suggestions I can present other than the usual? Believe we'd be killing more if we let'm rest a little.

It is usually a bad idea to hunt the P.M. in any location where the ducks have been pressured in the A.M.

The following techniques have been proven to eliminate ducks from an area:

1. Market hunting (now illegal)
2. Baiting and shooting them (also illegal)
3. Live decoys (very illegal)
4. Continuous sky busting (legal but dumb)
5. Afternoon shooting (not illegal but exhibits poor management strategy in any club)

Letting ducks rest and hunting them only 2-3 mornings per week is a proven method to keep ducks coming to your club/lease; ask any succesful landowner or leaseholder.....I can give you references if necessary....acornman
