Virginia school makes kid remove "Duck Dynasty" T-shirt

Several articles on the net about a kid in Virginia whose Grandmother bought him a "Duck Dynasty" T-shirt and the school told him to turn it inside out or go home. The shirt had one of Si's quirky quotes that went something like "I will hurt you physically and metaphorically" The school said the shirt "implied" violence and would not be tolerated.

We've really hit rock bottom if a Duck Dynasty t shirt can't pass the Politically Correct police.

What does that quote mean?

I can see how someone might be worried about that.

That is the exact point the school made in asking that the shirt be removed or turned inside out. They further commented that if one is a fan of the show they know what the quote is made is jest but if one is not, then they could infer physical harm.

I guess my position would be that the shirt most probably has "Duck Dynasty" somewhere clearly written on it. My reason for believing that is the shirt's purpose is to show one's fondness for the show and/or Si as a "character". I would think people are intelligent enough to use Google and find out what it is all about. If anything on TV represents the opposite of violence I would think that show would be the closed thing. If the shirt bore the quote with no other reference then maybe I could see the uproar.

I've not found anywhere, yet, that states the school banned the shirt because of the show and/or it's gun friendly stance or hunting stance. However, I wouldn't be surprised to find it in he future.

I was made to turn a grateful dead tshirt inside out cause they thought it meant I was a satan worshipper. That was back in the late 80's. ain't nothing to it. Water off a ducks back. What I'd really like to see is a GW tell'em to turn that stupid shirt inside out at the Mathews brake boat ramp at 5am....

Wonder how much Duck Dynasty crap will be on public waters this year. I was in WalMart the other day and there was all kind of Duck Dynasty crap on the shelf. There were even anti-microbial Band-Aids. I couldn't believe it

Don't hate them because they are successful. All that "CRAP" as you call it is making them extremely wealthy ! I wish I was getting the royalties off all the " CRAP"

Nobody said I "hated" anybody. I actually like the show. However, I do view much of the Chinese stuff that is making them a fortune as junk. If someone else puts value in it then so be it. Different strokes.

One of the most politically incorrect shirts I've ever seen worn to school (college) was one that said (and I quote) "Silly faggot, dicks are for chicks". Can you just imagine the uproar that would cause today!!
