I have been using this Female Coon cover scent now for 5 years. Really have liked the results. Ole Smokey is a trapper and not a scientist in a lab mixing concoctions . He says female coon scent is less alarming...who am i to argue!.. Coons climb trees so i put a dab or two on branches around me also. good luck oct 1st

I've been using imitation vanilla flavoring for years now.

shot three does last year directly down wind of me. they could defiantly smell it and were more interested in what the smell was rather than the humane scent.
I have a source where I can get a gallon for $4.00

I just spray down with it, and even keep a spray bottle in my pack. I always squirt a little on the ground where I want to take the shot, and have had good luck with deer walking to and sniffing that spot.

good luck!

I put some tinks or code blue on my boots during the season which isn't really a cover sent per say but does draw their attention. Anybody spray down with the carbon/silver/super scrubber type stuff?

I popped up a double bull in a thick bottom a couple years ago, and dad hunted it a few times.

He has done started smoking them battery powered cigs. I climbed in that blind and it smelled just like something from starbucks. needless to say I didn't see anything, and I asked dad what in the world he did in my blind, and he said oh yea, I spilled my thermos, then later on I noticed he was smoking a mocha flavored cig.......

gotta keep that old fart out of my sets......

I've used all sorts of urine, earth, pine, acorn, vanilla (used to be one called something like Vanilla Killa that was real good) etc, as well as Tink's, Code Blue and some others and they all seem to work well enough, but when and if I can find it I use Pete Rickard's Indian Buck Lure. I put a little on my boots and around my tree and I've had bucks and does alike of all ages and at all times of the year birddog me, nose to the ground at a full trot, straight to my tree on many occasions. None of beats hunting the wind though.

Agree hunting the wind is key. One cover scent I did myself worked well though. I took the green hulls from pecans and squeezed the sap/juice from them and caught in a container. Strong scent. Put contents into a spray bottle to make it easier to apply. Did not use as an attractant, just cover.
