Is this common or even legal?
My license is my only means of getting on an airplane (which i am forced to do quite often), so i couldn't be without it.
Rant over, have a good day.

Well ive learned my lesson..........now i will go and get me a duplicate license incase this happens again, at night, far from home, within 3 days of getting on an airplane, with no checkbook on me, etc, etc.drakechaser wrote:It is legal but I've only seen smaller towns do it for the reason you mentioned. There is a spot on the ticket to mark "license held in lieu of bond." I only keep them and attach them to the ticket for DUI's and suspended DL's. Keeping it for speeding seems a little excessive.
You get a ticket for driving with out a license as you're not supposed to drive without it. But, that may or may not be held up in court if you can produce it at the time of your appearance.driveby wrote:So what do you do for identification in the mean time? That's what i asked Mr Fudd when he informed me that he would be keeping my license. I almost slipped and said " You're $#!+ me right"?driveby wrote:So what do you do for identification in the mean time? Let's say you roll up on a road block down the road and they want ID and proof of insurance.
Sounds like the cop that gave me a ticket in po-dunk Missouri last fall coming back from Illinois----dude looked and sounded just like Corky from "Life Goes On".....actually felt a little bad for him even though he gave me a ticket.dukluk wrote:Rosedale is a known notorious speed trap.
Got a ticket there about 5 years ago at 10 pm at night.
Little white guy cop dressed like Rambo, hiding in the bushes on north end of town where the speed limit signs change abruptly from 55 mph to 35 mph.
He offered me a choice:
>pay ticket on the spot---$127.00 in cash or cashier's check only
>forfeit license until I paid it
>go to jail, until my court date
I didn't have that much cash on me, and wife didn't want to drive home alone.
So, I sent a cashier's check the next day, and got my license in the mail about a week later.
Found out later from a buddy in Rosedale that Rambo was somewhat mentally challenged, and later got fired.
Heck Bill, we all know he was just profiling you because you look shifty.novacaine wrote:That's what i asked Mr Fudd when he informed me that he would be keeping my license. He ASSURED me that the little blue ticket that i was now possessing was proof of my license if i get stopped by anyone else. I was overcome by a sense of
relief when he told me this.
