HIP Registration
We were checked sunday morning by a wildlife officer and had a discussion about HIP registration on your hunting license. Almost all of my buddies who bought license at Wal Mart were not HIP registered. On a paper license you will have a stamp. On a sportsman license you will have a MB endorsment. Check your license it is only a 250.00 fine

What about those that have a lifetime license? Did the officer mention anything about that?
Thanks,
Matt

HIP Registration
Lifetime license holders must go to a license agent to get their HIP stamp. It is free of charge and all license agents have received a supply of these stamps. Wal-mart is known for not completing this registration. Not because they purposely don't want to do it, but because they have so many employees passing through their doors that are not knowledgeable about HIP. Often they get put in a department because that is where they are needed and not where they are most experienced.

You are talking about a LA license arent you. It is not HIP is not required in MS.But I guess you know that.

Not sure who you been talking to but you missed the mark on Harvest information Program (HIP) not being required in Mississippi.
You are required in Mississippi to be registered in the HIP program. If your don't and a warden ask for it you will be written up if he so decides to.
What many hunters don't understand is that it is not just for ducks but for all Migratory birds.
If you doubt me call the MDWF they'll tell you the same thing.
Thought you might want to know. And just for the record I was asked by a Fed last weekend to see it.

HIP Registration
From the 2001-2002 Mississippi Harvest Infromation Program
In addition to all appropriate state and federal licenses and stamps, participation in the Migratory Bird Harvest Information Program (HIP) and evidence of the participation is now required by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to hunt migratory birds in Mississippi.
The purpose of your participation in the program is so that, with your help, we can continue to protect migratory game birds and assure future hunting. Hunters like you are our eyes and ears in the field and selected hunters will be surveyed concerning this year’s harvest.

Hey guys,
When I got my licenses this year, Wal-Mart didn't have any HIP stamps and the Post Office didn't have the Federal at the time. Got the Fed at Wally World and then went back a week or two later and got my HIP. I had to ask for it because when I bought my license the person didn't even mention it.

A big portion of the kids (like at night for example) in sporting goods at walmart dont even know what a duckstamp is, muchless an HIP stamp. I tried to buy a duckstamp in Clinton one evening and the guy had no clue what I was talking about. Good luck getting anything at Walmart unless you maybe go during the daytime when the dept mgr is there.

I bought my stamps at wal-mart but I bought my sportsman liscense when the state sent me my renewal.
Is the HIP stamp something you have to buy or do you just have to register. Please post back I dont want to not be legal.

The HIP stamp is an actual stamp that is free, but you do have to register. More than likely you already have since you purchased a Sportsman license. If you have registered it will have MB (Migratory Bird) on the license, behind your name I think. If the MB is on your lincense you are good to go. If not, go by a lincense agent and fill out the form.

SB,
I bought my license at Wal-Mart and got the HIP stamp at the same time. However, MB was not on my Sportsman License when it came in the mail. I'm not sure why it wasn't since I got both at the same time.
