Whether to walk or not?

I am finally graduating from MSU this semester. Several people have told me that I needed to walk in the commencement ceremony. I am 39 years old and I really don't see what the big deal is about walking. As far as I'm concerned, they can just mail me my diploma.
What's suppose to be so special about walking?

Well they were going to let me walk after telling me I was 3 hours short of graduating, making me come back for spring semester. It's not a big deal. I didn't want to but my parents asked me to.

Save your gas.....have it mailed to ya. Take that gas money and put it in a nice frame to hang on your wall in your new office cubical.
Although my wife has informed me that when she gets her masters finished up that I'm going to have to take my kids and sit through the ceremony
so who am I to give advise. LOL!

I walked...and wished I'd skipped it. If the reggins hoopin and hollerin wasn't enough the speaker finished his speech with Larry the cable guys "Get'er done". I lost some respect for the degree after watching that chit show.

I walked; nothing special. Take it or leave it. Guess it was out of respect for my parents more than anything.

I'm 24 taking my last final of college tomorrow, and I'm not walking.
I won't step foot back in a classroom till I take my kid to kindergarten one day.

I didn't walk for my BS but did for my master's cuz my mom begged for me to. Probably the biggest waste of 3 hours I can remember. Parents agreed that it wasn't what they expected either. I'd skip it if I had it to do over again for sure.
