Hey guys,
Just looking to see what other car yall have in the garage. Looking at getting my wife something a little bigger than what she has now (Lexus RX 350) we have been looking at the Highlander, Pilot, and the Explorer. I know alot of people like the Pilot. Tell me what yall think, Pros and Cons. I have already done the research on all the above but I would like to hear from some every day people and their experiences with these cars.

Wife has had two Explorers and both were/are great vehicles. First made it to 200k miles with only one minor problem. But we're a Ford family. When getting her last Explorer we test drove a Pathfinder, Pilot, Highlander, and something else. Hands down we liked the Explorer the best.

Acadia... We have enjoyed it. Just as much room as a Tahoe but nicer at the gas tank. Drives great but might lack a little on the power end. That may be because I am used to driving my truck but it does not get off the line very quick.

Those look nice inside and out but I won't give Government Motors a dime.

ETA we looked at several Tahoes we liked but couldn't leave a Ford.

We drove them all and we really liked the Explorer and the Pilot. My wife wanted one fully loaded and there was about 8k difference b/w the Pilot and the Explorer. The explorer had electronic back seats and we really didn't want that, we had been warned by others that they would fail. I thought the Arcadia was nice but it wasn't anything special. It didn't ride as well as the Pilot or the Explorer and the interior was well (if you have seen the int. on one GM vehicle you have seen them all).

My wife had an Equinox at one time. Great little vehicle, except for some PITA faults. When we sold it, we looked at the Explorer, but we both felt the Equinox was slightly more roomier than the Explorer. My mother in law now has one and I've riden in it and would agree that it seems smaller than the Equinox. I don't know the true size of the Lexus, but it must be pretty small if your considering the Explorer as a step up. Tahoe, Acadia, Expedition, Traverse are all in the same size. Explorer is now a cross over, so it's not what it used to be.

Acura MDX is a little roomier than the Lexus, but not much. We've got one and love it.

We just traded an 160,000 mile explorer that had never had a problem for a expedition. She hands down likes the expedition better but I liked the Explorer better. She says she feels safer because the Expedition is bigger.

I agree with that. Expedition or F-150 you don't really fear getting hit by anything other than a train. Now the gas mileage sucks for sure.

I see many folks talking about the new explorer. Are ya'll referring to the 2011-2013s? Thinking about one for my wife down the road once her Honda craps out.

yep. We were looking at 2012 models.

For the record, we ended up buying a 2012 F150.

Drive a 2013 Pathfinder...best in class fuel economy. And someone here can get you a Nissan employee discount.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but just when, may I ask, do you expect that to happen? I must be the brokest son of a gun on this board, because I am pickled tink that my wife loves her little Civic, because we can't afford one of them big lexus thingamajigs. And her Civic had better last a good loooooonnnnnngg time, too. If it don't I'LL be the one that's walking.

We got one of these last week. Got the SL Premium package and my wife loves it. It's starting to grow on me. Either way it drives great, is super nice, tons of room, and easy on the gas. It has a 5000 lb towing capacity so we can pull wheeler and small boat around. Also if you get the towing package it comes with an additional transmission cooler. Has two sunroofs heated seats front and back plenty of storage. Contrary to its looks it has plenty of power! We drove an Acura RDX, highlander, fourrunner, and looked at the pilot, Mercedes, Acadia and traverse. The pathfinder was last we looked at and it was hands down our favorite choice.

My wife loves her GMC Acadia.
