It takes 7 minutes to pour a beer........so prepare accordingly.......need to order your next beer before you finish the beer you are drinking....
What part of Germany are you going to? I loved Berlin, lot's of history. When we were there, our hotel had bicycles we could use to ride around the city. There is also a park in Berlin, very similar to central park......fun to ride around on bikes and visit the biergartens. We also went to Austria and Turkey while over there......in the US we think buildings that are 100 years old are old......we visited some churches that were built in 500 and 600 AD.....do not miss the opportunity to visit the buildings and churches.
Last but not least.......most frustrating part of the trip....we were looking forward to driving really fast on the autobahn. We drove around for a week, not being able to get the car over 80 mph, it was "all the car would do". We were sharing our frustration with one of the Germans.....he showed us where most cars over there have a way to set a MAXIMUM speed, basically a governor for the car........he showed us how to turn it off.....it was 130-140 the rest of the trip! Be aware of that.

They make really big sausages, and smell like sauerkraut, all the time....the wimmin dip snuff, and don't have any teeth....don't screw around with the police, they think WW2 is still going on.
When using public restrooms, never say, "Ich eine große bierschinken un mein unterhosen"....translation, "I have a huge sausage in my pants."
BTW, they brew the best beer in the world!!!

When I was over there most businesses were closed for lunch, even the grocery stores. Don't plan on doing a lot on Sundays, they close then too, even the restaurants. I'll go along with the beer, but the bread is good too.

vienna has some beautiful historic churches that you can tour...i still look at the pics and wonder how they were built that high, and with such intricate detail so many hundreds of years ago.
really good, really fresh beer (not allowed to use preservatives, at least not in kegs for bars/restaurants) and although pork spare ribs are the specialty everywhere...they SUK! you'll know what i'm talking about when you smell an order go by...oven cooked, not grilled. all other pork items are really good (they love some pig over there!). we didn't get to visit the vineyards on the hillside outside the city, but was told the wines are majority rieslings due to the colder climate (you can see them from the top of the churches).
*pic tip of buildings in vienna - wait until you get close to city center to take architectural detail pics....every building there is adorned with it. (much akin to the first drive out west seeing oil derricks for the first time and taking pics...by the time you get to actual fields of them, you're bored with them from taking pics of every "single" rig in a field you see initially.)

Taking all this in. I will be based in Hamberg. Everybody has said the subway system there is as good as NY is this true? And if you could order one beer what would it be?

What are you doing there?
Might want to check the weather. A FB friend was complaining about it snowing while she was hiding Easter eggs.
