Pizza on the BGE

Postby goosegerm » Sat Feb 23, 2013 3:01 pm

Cooking a pizza tonight. Do y'all make your own crust or is the store bought the best way to go?

If you're in the Jackson area, go buy your dough from Sal & Mookie's. If not, try to find a local pizza place that will sell you some of theirs.

I've had pretty good luck with the plain pilsbury pizza crust. I roll it out with a rolling pin and the put it on the pizza stone with some corn meal to keep it from sticking. It crisps nicely on the BGE and has a good flavor.

Minus cooking on the BGE, we use this crust as well on a baking stone. pre toast it in oven, put toppings on and bake until cheese is melted or edges are crisp. Turns our great.

I go buy a large Papa Murphys pizza for $8 and throw it on the EGG ~20 minutes. Unbelievable! Make sure you preheat your stone!

I found some frozen premade dough at Piggly Wiggly once that was awesome on the cypress. Can't find it anywhere now... We use the Pillsbury stuff. I may have to check out the sal and mookies thing though...

What do they charge and how much dough?
