Filing the Conceal Carry App Today

Postby gunner » Tue Jan 15, 2013 2:29 pm

Been in the Mississippi HP office all day and still haven't been called back for fingerprints. The bureaucracy definitely has a way of weeding out those that aren't committed enough to see it through.

If you're going to go though the process, have your ducks (no pun intended) in a row and be prepared to come early and wait ALL day.

Are you in Jackson and what time did you get there?

Meridian. I actually got here at 10AM due to a lot of confusion. Still haven't been called back for fingerprints.

Heard the Jackson office line was out of the door.

The 45 day wait may turn into 6 months with all these new apps. Hopefully mine will come end of Feb.

Jim, I can't say that I blame you. Just think how many thugs commit crimes while in possession of guns and they just seem to let them go with a slap on the hand. That has crossed my mind a million tes today.

Not committing the crimes.. You know what I mean. :D

I just don't think I'd chance becoming a felon and not ever being allowed to own or possess a firearm over a day of inconvenience getting the permit. People talk about it all the time and how it's a constitutional right and blah blah blah, then proclaim they will carry regardless (not pointed at anyone particular, just an observation). I agree we should have constitutional carry but at the moment, that $135 piece of plastic is the difference between you being a law abiding citizen and a felony committing criminal depending on where you illegally carry that weapon.

It sure would suck to get caught carrying a pistol illegally and never be able to hunt again because you can't possess a firearm. Sure a lot of people get a slap on the hand but what's to guarantee you aren't the one the judge wants to make an example out of?

Just an observation and my opinion after seeing several posts regarding the issue.

No I understand, Chevy. That's why I've been here all day. Just talk. But still a lot of truth to it.

I agree.. $132.00 over 5 years is $26.40 a year. That is pretty cheap life insurance if you ask me..

To tell you the truth guys (and you prolly already know this If you've done the process) the bureaucracy and the waiting is way worse than the fee.

Like I said, I wasn't directing my statement to anyone in particular, just expressing my opinion on the subject. "Thinking out loud" is all I guess! Just my observation based on browsing several forums and seeing the issue coming up more and more.

It only took me and other guy on here about 20 minutes in and out the day after Barry O was reelected. No lie. Went about 2 pm. No line or anything.

Soon we will paying a fee(tax) to speak our mind. Atleast there are still a few states left that recognize the 2nd and dont try to tax a right.

Are you legal once you pay the fee and get processed, or do you become legal when the card comes in the mail?
