MSU is putting together a pretty solid recruiting class themselves, so I'm not real sure what you mean.

.....and become eligible. Let us not forget the rule the NCAA put in a few years ago because The Plantation would sign 80 players a year but only 6 would be eligible.

I just looked at the Scout site and Mississippi State is ranked 13 and Mississippi is 20.

Yes stitch you are correct about scout site, but if your gonna tell a story don't leave parts out, ESPN.com has Rebs 22, state 27. Rivals.com has Rebs 18, state 23. It's all a bunch of rah rah. I'm with scottylee none of it means crap till they all put pen to paper in feb.....

that's kinda my point......is there a difference between the #1 class and the #50 class.....probably so. Is there a difference in classes ranked within any range of 10-15 rankings......not so much.

exactly... you can be 10th in the country and still be middle pack in this conference.. top 20 class don't mean much... we will see how it all shakes out, lot of top guys out there still uncommitted that have to go somewhere. fingerscrossed it all works out, if it does it will be an enjoyable month of feb.

Well, before we start talking about who is "whooping" who, lets wait and see who actually signs on the dotted line in early February, and out of that bunch, who qualifies before the fall. And even then, it is difficult to make too many accurate projections about who will be early contributors and impact players. I am certain that both the MSU and UM coaches would like to think that any freshman signed this year, no matter how many stars assigned to them, would have trouble making their way to the top of the depth chart.

More important perhaps than overall class rankings, is whether or not your team adequately addressed immediate and future team depth concerns. I won't totally discount the ratings and rankings because many of the teams who have the highest ranked classes also tend to be the most successful teams. But, there is much more to it than that to be successful.

In very general terms, I will say that both the Rebels and MSU will have to up their recruiting game in order to just get enough talent to stay competitive in the SEC overall and SEC West, especially with the addition of TAM. Even a class ranked in the top 10-15 would be about middle of the pack in the SEC overall --- about 3rd, 4th or 5th in the SEC West. Think about that for a moment and let that sink in. We will always be faced with having to do more with less in order to succeed --- even when we are having what is considered banner recruiting years for our programs.
