I have a 7 year old male who has 2 pins in his right leg and it tends to bother him after a full day in the feild. What is something I can give him for the soreness? He favors and limps after he has been on it all day long.

Sounds like a good question for your veterinarian. Don't give him any human pain killers as some of these can harm your dog.

Thanks for the replays, and I meant to say he HAD 2 pins. The vet pulled them. His leg has been examined an the leg has healed properly. Just a little sore but not enough to slow him down if a duck hits the deck.

Coated aspirin works great.

I use the aspirin myself.

Do not give your dog asprin. Most do not handle this well and can develop gastric ulcers or blood dyscriasis.

Rimadyl is probably not a bad choice but it will require a prescription from your veterinarian.

tramadol is another option but will also require a script.

My vet, who is also a dog owner/hunter(50 years), recommends Advil for dog soreness and pain....one tablet for dogs over 30 pounds....half tablet for those under 30 pounds....as with humans, put some food in their belly, prior to giving it to them....I've been using it for years....works great, and it's cheap.

Sounds like you might want to start taking it easy on him instead.
