Had an Ole Miss fan ask me last night, "What's the best way to get to Legion Field in Birmingham?" My reply, "By winning six games." Bwhaaaaaaaaa
Congrats on the Bowl win and of course, Roll Tide.

Re: Ole Miss
We were at the game yesterday and my 9 year old asked if we were in a high school stadium. I don't think he was too impressed with Legion Field but hey after our last few years in Oxford anything post season is a plus.
Re: Ole Miss
No disrespect to Ole Miss (they played well), but Pitt looked horrible. First half I was wondering if they could have matched up with South Panola. They were SLOW in every position it appeared. Maybe they had it in their head they should have beat ND and Ole Miss would be a cake walk. If Bo doesn't throw the picks and plays a little better it could have been 50 points on the score board.

Re: Ole Miss
just got back from birmingham earlier. What a weekend. it was a great trip, several headaches/hangovers involved in celebratory fashion (had to make up for lack of from the previous to bowl seasons). Rebels showed up to play, fans showed up in masses to cheer em on. Great way to end the 2012 season and kick off the year in 2013.
that being said, any bowl is damn sure better than no bowl as we previously got to experience the last few years, but dang is legion field a dump! and how in the hell do you run out of beer by half time? and how do you run out of chicken for the chicken sandwich's (chik fila) and how the heck do you run out of corn dogs, and hotdogs. no telling how many dollars in sales was missed out on. This was my first trip to birmingham to experience night life, and i'm sure it's a lot different throughout the year than it was this weekend, but i was pleasantly surprised. I've heard horror stories about it, i gave it a thumbs up! All of the locals and local bummer fans that were at the game were really nice as well. Preciate the hospitality birmingham and to the state of Albania. Glad to be back in Oxford, now time to get some of these recruits locked up!
Won the day, Won the Night... now it's back to work.

Re: Ole Miss
Legion Field became a dump when Alabama quit playing games there back in 2005 (edited). Birmingham has a lot to offer - don't judge them on Legion Field. If it were up to the majority, they would tear it down in a heartbeat. Lots of history in that place however- my first game there as a child was Alabama vs. Southern Cal. ABC TV circa 1974.
Poor planning by the city on the concessions - but the city is the problem. Much like Memphrica.
Hope most enjoyed themselves - good win by the Rebs.

Re: Ole Miss
Congrats to the Rebs and the Reb fans on a great bowl win. After the last couple of years yall deserve it. Heck even I was pulling for you.

Re: Ole Miss
Saw bama play there around 2001 or so & I felt like the concrete was going to crumble around me at any moment. The parking in the hood was a little scary too!
Looks like the Rebs are on the right track.
Congrats on the win.

Re: Ole Miss
fortunately most people it seemed didn't have to experience the parking situation. Most of the main hotels around birmingham had shuttle services to and from the stadium, which really helped with the safety aspect with large crowds all going the same places. it was a blast! ya'll can have your city back now.eSJay wrote:Saw bama play there around 2001 or so & I felt like the concrete was going to crumble around me at any moment.
