I have been using the large bag of Royal Oak brand but that stuff's hard to find. The brand Lowe's carries is garbage and I've had a little success with Kroger's brand but only see it in smaller bags. I prefer to buy the larger bags due to high use of the Cypress grill at our house.

If you have a restaurant supplier or wholesaler close by I would call them. That's where I have been buying mine. I don't know the brand (I'll look when I get home) but it comes in a 20 and 40 lb bag. I think I paid $12.50 for the last 20 lb bag I bought. I've been pleased with it. Way better than the stuff at Lowe's but a lot cheaper than BGE charcoal.

IMO Royal Oak is not worth buying. Every back I have bought has wayyyy to many tiny jiblets and not near enough good lumps. The best I have found is at Sams. Cant remember the name brand but its good.

Royal Oak Factory in MO burned up a month or so back. Don't know if they'll make it back or not. Sam's sells Kingsford in two 20 lbs bags wrapped for around $20.

I used the bayou classic brand for the first time over thanksgiving. That was some good stuff.
Johnny- when will those sweet bayou classic small fryers be in? I saw the prototype when I was there. Gentlemen up front said y'all where expecting a shipment soon.

I normally always just used to Primo brand because that is what my grill is and I knew where to get it. I have had a hard time finding the lump at the grocery and all, but must just not be looking hard enough.
That said, this last time I was hard up for some and Persnickety in Madison was out of charcoal, so I got some BGE from Madison fireplace. I hadn't cleaned the grill out really good in awhile so some small lumps were stopping the air from flowing real well, and the damn grill cooked like a champ and the bag I got happened to have a lot of good big chunks in it.
Not sure if that is the normal for BGE, but it seemed to have better lumps and seemed to cook better. Dunno if it was the charcoal or the fact I cleaned the grill lol YMMV
ETA- I have heard of the Bayou Classic grills and know they are local to the Jackson area, but where exactly are they located to go try some of their charcoal and/or accessories?
