Duck Blind - (Help)

Postby Woody Commander » Sun Nov 25, 2012 6:00 pm

I need some recommendations on a duck blind. I hunt water too deep to wade and only have single cypress trees . Dont have two trees close together . Id like to build a blind around it on it or somethin. I could do it no problem if it was two trees together but i cant figure out howto do it with one tree. Is it possible? and i need sone ideas or pics of some blinds that are like i got to build. Thanks in advance for any and all help !!

A quick fix would be a pontoon boat blind. For a permanent structure it's gonna depend on the depth and type of bottom. I hunted out of a blind similar to what your talking about. For the supports away from the trees they set posts in 5g buckets filled with concrete that settled in the mud. It was a solid blind.

Walt on here (don't know if he's been on here in a while) has some cool platforms built in Dutch Brake. It's like a little deck that extends out from the tree just above water level. They just sit or stand on it underneath the limbs. Plus it doubles as nutria loafing platform so they are really a wildlife friendly project.

Lock on or climber. Have done it several times in White River bottoms when water in woods is too deep.

Could do a "single tree" tree house type thing. This blog shows how they built one that would work well I think.

I heard the "Landman" had a good hunt Sat and Sun in his grown up ponds down there.
I saw him at lunch Monday and he said that they shot Mallards the first day and Gads the second. Funny how that works sometimes.

Dont know how big your tree is, but if you can drive post in the ground through the water I would go with the first design. If not use the second design. I have used the second one before and it worked fine. Put two people on each side of the tree.
